The notes of the meeting held on 14 March 2018 were received by the group.

To note the Forward Plan extract (if any) for the Leisure and Culture Portfolio

There were no relevant items on the forward plan.

The Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture informed that group that he had a meeting with officers from the HDC Planning department in order to identify the key impacts on local ecology and determine ways in which HDC could improve, protect and nurture ecology within the district.

Three main ideas came about from the meeting with Planning Officers which were:

·         Investigating ways that HDC could improve and nurture local ecology on HDC owned land.

·         Implementing stronger ecological policies within new planning framework.

·         Raising district wide awareness of the importance of ‘Natural Capital’ whilst encouraging and promoting exemplar projects within the district.

The Leisure Strategy and Client Manager provided the group with and update on the new Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre.

The project was still on budget and a Clerk of Works had been appointed to ensure the building quality was of a high standard.

The multi-use game areas were not in full use as drainage solutions were still being investigated.

The new centre was being equipped with all necessary assets as the previous centre’s assets were being disposed of.

The demolition of the previous centre was planned to be completed by mid-2019.

The Director of Community Services briefed the group of the ongoing negotiations and potential locations of a new sports track within the district.
