Stop the changes to our waste bin collections

We the undersigned petition the council to Put a stop to the changes of the collection of our waste bins. At present they are collected every week but new proposals due to start on the 05/02/18 suggest these will only be collected every other week.

Whilst petitioners applaud the decision to reduce the impact on the environment by increasing the amount of waste we all recycle, the reduction iin the frequency of household waste collection does not address this. Reduction in waste collection encourages pests and means when the current small waste bins are full or a bin collection is missed by the council waste collectors, residents will have to get rid of household waste at landfill. The suggestion moves responsibility from council to resident until waste is measured at the council household waste facilities and ultimately will not reduce general waste instead cause inconvenience to tax paying residents. Why isn't the council providing garden waste bins and compost bins free of charge to residents and educating people regarding recycling instead of reducing spending on collections?
