Save New Street Gardens

We the undersigned petition the council to We request Horsham District Council to protect New Street Gardens and to reject any plan to build an access road from New Street to a future housing development on the RSA site.

There are proposals to turn New Street Garden into an access road to a new development on the RSA car park, as part of Horsham District Council’s ‘Horsham Town Centre Vision’ document. The plans include proposals to build houses on the RSA car park, requiring an access road to New Street via New Street Garden. Not only would this remove a much used and valued community garden, it goes against the Council’s own planning policy to “retain, enlarge or enhance the existing formal and informal green spaces within the town”. It would also significantly increase the amount of traffic on the already over-congested and narrow roads around New Street.
These plans will be put forward for endorsement at a Council Cabinet meeting on 23 November.
Please sign and share this petition to request Horsham District Council to reject any plans that may destroy New Street Gardens.
