Protocol for the Scrutiny of Crime and Disorder Matters PDF 72 KB Minutes: The sub-committee noted the protocol which outlined the key provisions of the relevant legislation, the Terms of Reference of the sub-committee, its duty to meet at least once a year, the role of scrutinising the CSP Plan and performance reports, the ability to give notice to responsible authorities to require their representatives to attend sub-committee meetings or to provide information required for Scrutiny.

Vulnerable Victim Action Plan - Presented by the Community Safety Manager PDF 81 KB Minutes: The Community Safety Manager presented the Vulnerable Victim Action Plan 2016/17 and talked Members through the report providing some examples of work which had taken place against some of the actions.
The Community Safety Manager would circulate to the Members the details of the training sessions available under the ‘Young People - Prevent Agenda,’ which was designed to raise awareness of key issues linked to radicalisation and spotting the signs.
The Committee welcomed the good work that had taken place under the Action Plan.

Shoplifting Performance Improvement Action Plan - Presented by Sussex Police PDF 56 KB Minutes: The Shoplifting Performance Improvement Action Plan 2016/17 was presented to the Members by Sussex Police.
The report was summarised for the Members. There were a small number of repeat offenders, known to the Police who were targeted. Overall the reporting of shoplifting cases had increased. There was new technology available by way of a smart phone app, for the shops in town to download onto their smart phones, to enable them to report shoplifting quicker and communicate with other stores in the town.
The Sub-Committee welcomed the progress made in the report.

Casualty Reduction Action Plan - Presented by WS Fire and Rescue Service PDF 99 KB Minutes: The Casualty Reduction Action Plan 2016/17 was presented to the Sub-Committee by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
Members noted the positive progress against the actions in the report.
There had been an increase in serious road related casualties in 2016/17 compared to 2015/16, despite the proactive work carried out by the Fire and Rescue Service. They had struggled to reduce these figures as had not been pattern to the incidents and they were often caused by factors out of their control.
The Sub-Committee welcomed the progress made in the report.

The Chairman of Overview and Scrutiny thanked the Chairman of the Sub-Committee for his work over the past year, as he would no longer be standing as a Member of the Sub-Committee as he would be standing as Chairman of the Council in 2016/17. |
